Life is a Maze and Love is a Riddle

If you are not one of the fortunate many who have seen the British teen movie Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging, I would definitely suggest that you get a copy as soon as possible and watch it on your next girls' night in.  Last school year, my college friends and I spent a weekend watching it multiple times!  This witty film is based on the first two books in Louise Rennison's Confessions of Georgia Nicholson series (Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging and It's OK, I'm Wearing Really Big Knickers).  As the book titles may suggest, this movie follows the life and times of fourteen year-old Georgia Nicholson, a creatively-minded and completely self-conscious girl who works incessantly to impress the school's new hot guy while simultaneously planning her totally awesome fifteenth birthday party.  The film is fraught with hilariously random situations, unforgettable one-liners, and all the embarrassing problems that come with being a young teenage girl.  For today's post, I decided to provide some outfits inspired by the main character Georgia, her best friend Jas, and their arch-nemesis, the cruel "Slaggy Lindsay".

Georgia Nicholson

Georgia is the main character of the film and the voice of all awkward teenage girls everywhere.  Though she tries desperately to be cool, she eventually realizes that she is wonderful, just being herself.  She has an angry-looking cat named Angus who is constantly dressed in costume by her adorably weird younger sister Libby.  She utilizes both in order to attract Robbie, the new guy with whom she is in love.  Her awkwardness and constant confusion is completely endearing, and she keeps you laughing the entire movie.

Georgia is the queen of casual with a colorful twist.  She wears a variety of skirts throughout the film, so get her look in this neon yellow body-con skirt.  She also sports tons of graphic and patterned tees during the movie, so pay homage to her wonderfully crazy tabby cat Angus with this loose and comfy, cat-print top.  Georgia is rarely seen without wearing a hoodie, so add this unique one for an extra layer of light warmth.  Bright socks in silly patterns make her knee-sock obsession summer appropriate, especially combined with  cute Converses.  Add this plaid phone case that matches Georgia's oft-worn school uniform.

Jas

Jas is Georgia's absolute best friend, who is also obsessed with getting a boyfriend.  She is a member of the Ace Gang, a four girl group of best friends that include Georgia and Jas, as well as Ellen and Rosie.  She is incredibly self-conscious as well, and spends a good chunk of the movie wishing that her boobs were bigger.  Though she is not the brightest bulb in the box, she definitely proves that she is a loyal best friend.

Though like Georgia, Jas enjoys comfy layers, she is definitely the more girly of the pairing.  Show her sweet spirit with her sweet floral skirt and match it with this basic tee.  As contrast to the mint-colored skirt, add this mustard colored statement scarf in order to create one of spring's hottest color combinations.  Jas is rarely seen without her trusty denim jacket, so be sure to grab this all-season staple.  Finally, a pair of bright orange Ked's and this crotchet headband (similar to the fabulously fashionable hippie-headband she wore at Georgia's birthday party) complete the look with the perfect amount of quirk.

Lindsay

"Slaggy Lindsay" is the Regina George of Georgia's life; though she is perceived as being gorgeous and the ideal teenage girl, she is completely horrid and is referred to as "the slag of the century".  Lindsay is also the girlfriend of Robbie, the guy that Georgia is obsessed with.  As if that weren't enough, Lindsay is planning her ridiculously cool birthday party the same day as Georgia's in the ultra-chic new club!  Lindsay is a total fake and luckily, eventually gets her comeuppance.

Though she is truly a mean girl, Lindsay always is sure to always be perfectly chic and trendy.  You can rest assured that she would grab a pair of these wonderful tangerine skinnies as soon as Kate Middleton donned her iconic pair a few months ago.  A slightly cropped, tied, button-down is subtly sexy while keeping the preppy look fresh for the warmer months.  Classic and dainty accessories such as nude wedges, this adorable wrap watch, and this pretty pendant add to the outfit's chicness.  Lastly, Lindsay would totally wear her hair in LC's famous side braid, complete with a complementary yellow flower clip holding it back.
